Assistant Controller

We are seeking a talented Assistant Controller to assist in preparing financial statements and reporting for Fenix North America under the supervision of the Controller.  You will be responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping maintain and set up control systems.  You must have good knowledge of accounting principles and practices.  You must be an organized professional with a great eye for detail.  You must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.  You will a key contributor on the team as we prepare accurate and timely accounting and financial data and reporting for users across the globe.  Fenix North America consists of 8 corporate entities and includes 40 retail stores.

Responsibilities

  • Must Love Reconciliations!
  • Support all aspects of accounting management for the Fenix entities in North America – this includes 8 companies and a division operating in South America
  • Lead role in driving the monthly financial close process
  • Manage all aspects of the General Ledger for all companies
  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage journal entries, invoices, and reconcile accounts for the monthly closing
  • Assist in the annual preparation of budgets and interim forecasts
  • Participate in preparation for the annual audit and work with external audit team
  • Assist with supervision of AR, AP, and general accounting department, a team of 7+
  • Be the master of the accounting IT systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency

Requirements

  • BS/BA in accounting or finance or closely related field is required
  • Proven experience in progressive roles in general accounting
  • 1+ year experience managing a team in accounting or AR or AP functions
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with, or interest in learning, IFRS
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Experience in Microsoft Dynamics AX is an advantage, but not required
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize between urgent and important
  • Very good written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Rigorous attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Must Love Reconciliations!

Pay Range: $75,000 to $100,000
